The history of the Staropramen Brewery dates back to 1869. Today, it is the largest brewery in Prague and offers visitors a unique interactive tour inside its newly renovated Visitor Centre — a modern experience that blends tradition, technology and storytelling.
Right from the entrance, the centre creates the impression of stepping into an old Prague square, setting the perfect mood for the experience that follows.
What you will experience during the tour
1. Multimedia introduction to the brewery’s history
The tour begins in a room surrounded by multiple screens showing the story of Staropramen and the evolution of beer brewing.
Visitors can explore:
- a historic periscope displaying old photographs
- touch screens with detailed information about Staropramen’s product portfolio — the largest beer exporter from Prague
2. Authentic historical laboratory with a holographic brewmaster
In the original laboratory where the unique Staropramen flavour was born, guests meet a life‑size digital hologram of the brewmaster.
He explains (in Czech, English, German and Russian) how the recipe for one of Prague’s most iconic beers was created.
3. Historic brewhouse – the heart of the brewery
The next stop is the impressive brewhouse, equipped with:
- giant screens framed like old paintings
- a complete audiovisual presentation of the brewing process — from hop cultivation to fermentation and maturation
- the opportunity to touch and smell different types of hops (Pilsner, Bavarian, caramel, roasted)
The entire process is narrated by the “revived” brewmaster, guiding visitors through the secrets of beer production.
4. Miniature production line
A detailed model of the bottling line shows how beer is packaged and prepared for distribution.
5. Beer tasting in a stylish pub
The tour concludes with a popular beer tasting in a newly opened pub, where visitors can try:
- classic lager
- semi‑dark Granát
- traditional dark lager
- and other Staropramen specialties
